Sunset Palette
Another oldie, this picture from December 2008. I took it in Nieuwpoort, at the Belgian coast, from the balcony of a friend's apartment. The setting sun paints the sky in luscious shades of purple and red, and lights up the water on the sand. By contrast, the lampposts cast an orange light, glowing off the pavement, transforming the promenading people into shadow puppets. The Christmas tree on the first lamppost hints at the time of year.

Gorgeous colors! The lonely christmas tree contrasts with the warm colors and the 'sea feeling'. It seems so out of place that it gives a strange, eerie feeling. The lampposts' light droplets give a subtle sense of depth.
ReplyDeleteOne of your pest pictures yet, can't believe I missed it somehow when you first posted it. (Checked my calender: was on holiday :-) )
At first it seems like a regular sunset, but after a while you start noticing the subtle details such as the tree, people and promenade.
Love it.
Thanks! You make me blush. :-)
ReplyDeleteOne of the things I like most about this picture is the water on the sand which reflects the light of the sunset. I only noticed after I had taken the picture, but I love that pretty detail.
