Storm season

I've been told that spring is storm season in the South, and in the few weeks I've been here, a few crazy thunderstorms have already kept me up for parts of the night. Yesterday night was an especially strong storm though. Apparently Georgia was on tornado watch. Several people made sure I knew the storm was coming and what to do in case the tornado sirens start wailing (bless them!). Fortunately, no tornados occured in the Atlanta region last night. The storm was strong enough to do quite some damage, though. A tree was uprooted in front of my school in downtown Atlanta (my building's the one on the left, for the curious).

In the neighborhood where I'm living, a few tall trees also went down, one smashing a car...

... and another hitting a house.

The eerie part is that this all happenned just hours ago... but today was a perfectly nice, sunny spring day.

As if nothing ever happened.
